Productive Weekend

My weekend was very productive. I worked on cleaning my room, I plan in cleaning 1 hour a day on Saturday and Sunday, or more if I feel like it. I've clean my room before only for it to get junky again. But, at that time I was just trying to get stuff out of the way, I wasn't really fixing the problem.

I think the there are two reasons that I started hoarding. One, my grandmother is a hoarder, so seeing that may have had an effect. Also, I had to share a room with my parents. They took over the dresser in my room and the closet. So, all of my clothes went to one of those large cardboard boxes that you ship your clothes in. So, everything I owned either went under my bed or in the box. I never properly had a room or storage before. So, I never learned to care for a room properly, because I never properly had one. And being forced to share everything, I think subconsciously I feel maybe the more junk the less people can come in and take over.

Outside of that, I cleaned the area by my window, it's still junky, but I can get to the window now without falling over stuff. I also cleaned off my dresser, it only has stuff now that I'm keeping. Though I'm sure when I really get to the organizing and not the throwing away part I can still find stuff to get rid off.

I also did something out of character for me. I signed up for match.com. I figured the only way I'm going to find a mate is putting myself out there. The only thing is I've never had a boyfriend or really flirted with anyone, so I have no idea how to interact with guys. It's a little nerve wracking., but it's something that I have to do. My plan was to get myself together first, mainly losing weight. But, I realized that having PCOS there is a chance that I might stay heavy despite the healthy eating. And it wouldn't be fair to me to deprive myself of companionship because I may not be what someone was expecting physically. And despite what people try to make you believe, there are men who find heavy women attractive.

  1. Congrats! You'll be clutter free before you know it. I met my fiance on Yahoo personals...good luck on Match...I had to weed out a bunch of losers before I found Paul so don't get discouraged...he's out there!!

  2. I'm looking forward to not having so much junk in my life. Plus, when I get back to Chicago it's less stuff that I have to pack and move.

OMG, I totally forgot about yahoo personals. I'm going to check them out too.

  3. I am also working on cleaning up my place - it's gotten really messy after an extremely busy end of August/beginning of September but like you I decided to do one hour a day until it's done.

Good luck with the healthy eating - I have been doing the same since February, no special diet just counting calories and I've lost about 20 lbs. It's going super slow because I have a lot of days where I just eat pizza but it's about forming good habits!

  4. Yay, congrats on the weight loss. I wish I had a fast metabolism, my father can eat anything and lose weight, why?

I think cleaning an hour day makes things easier and less stressful. I'm doing it by category. I going to work on my closet next.
