Movies and Food

I'm getting really good at making oatmeal now. Usually I don't add enough water or I add to much, but today it was perfect. I've also started adding craisins. I think I might try adding apricots next time.

I also tried one of my lean gourmet meals from Michellani's last night. I had the buffalo chicken snackers for dinner. It was really good and filling. I bought them this past Sunday at Walmart, they were only a dollar. So, I figured I'd given them a try. When I go shopping this week I'm going to get them for lunch as well. It's so much easier grabbing something and leaving; then having to make something from scratch everyday.

Outside of that I looking into some more Korean films to watch. A majority of the international films that I've watched have been Japanese. I've decided the expand my film viewing field. These are the movies I'm going to watch next:

1. I Saw the Devil
2. The Chaser
3. H
4. Sympathy for Mr Vengence
5. Memories of Murder
6. Mother

If you have any foreign films that you've watched and loved let me know. I'm willing to watch anything once as long as it isn't anything graphic, like Hannibal Holocaust *shudders*

[via iblameuk]

So, I'm restarting as this is March first. I haven't been doing great as a vegetarian, I've been eating meat once a day. Trying to do this vegetarian thing I've noticed that I don't like a wide variety of things. And most of my meals have consisted of some type of grain. And I've been trying new recipes, but I haven't really been liking any of them.

So, I think I'm going to add fish and chicken back into my diet, I'm going to get free range when I can. Am still going to be gluten and lactose free. I'm going to monitor my calories and fat intake. And I'm going to keep the carbs as low as possible, aiming for under 150 grams a day.

I also exercise 3 times this week. On my research on cardio, I read that we only have to exercise 10 to 25 minutes a day. That gets our heat rate up and helps build endurance. This is great news for me, because I don't like cardio. I'd much rather do strength training. I really want to get Les Mills Pump, it looks amazing.

Babble

This Friday is the company Christmas party. I really don't have feelings about the party one way or another. In the years past I looked forward to it, but all the people that I enjoyed have moved on to other jobs. It's going to be a long two hours.

I ended up taking the 12g plug out of my left ear, I'm thinking that my ear wasn't ready to stretch yet and that why it was giving me problems. I'm wearing the 14g plug now. I think I'll try sizing up again and the end of the month.

I also decided to give up on making youtube videos. I made about six or seven and I have made a video in eight months. I realized that I'd much rather watch a video than make one. I prefer blogging. I don't need to set aside time, set up a recording space, or spend hours editing a video. It's easier to take a photo and write about my day.

I also started the Asian Slim Secrets diet by Linda Yo. I had 10oz miso soup, 6oz thin sliced beef and 32oz cups of basmati rice for breakfast. I at around 9:00am and it's now going on 1:00pm and I'm not even hungry. She has videos posted over on youtube-->http://www.youtube.com/user/AsianSlimSecrets. You can buy her book for $12 in paperback on amazon. Or you can do like I did and get it for $6 from amazon by downloading to you ereader (I have a Nook Color.)

Paleo Diet

[via robb wolf]

So, after doing Atkins for a while I just don't think it's the diet for me. I don't like having to do all the carb counting and picking through things and standing in the store for hours trying to find a no nitrae bacon. It's to much. So, I did what I normally do, I prayed about it.

And the words "meat and veggie diet PCOS" popped into my head. I went on google and typed that in, and all these success stories about Paleo and PCOS came on the screen. It's very similar to Atkins in where you eat meat, but you don't count carbs. Starchy veggies and high carb fruits are avoided by PCOS people. You eat what you want and when you're full leave the table.

Cook, eat, and go about my business. I like it.

Atkins Day 8

I got on the scale this morning and gained .8 lbs. I know why. Yesterday, I really wanted something beside water to drink. I had some Crystal Light packets left..so, I had those. Some people have problems with aspartame and some don't. Sadly, it seems like I'm one of the one that do.

I had my pumpkin bake for breakfast this morning, it was really good. Next time I'm going to double the recipe so I have plenty ready for me first thing in the morning. I'm have the same salad that I had last week and I have my pizza kitchen sitting at home waiting for me.

Pizza Quiche

Here are pictures of the pizza quiche that I made today. I'm getting ready to make my pumpkin bake and I'll post pictures of that when I'm done.

Atkins Day 6 & 7

So, I had the pizza quiche for dinner on Friday and it was amazing. I also had some for breakfast and lunch the next day, Saturday. I'm going to make it again it a bigger casserole dish so it will last the week. I'm also going to make a pumpkin bake that I found on Yourtuber Bowulf channel. It looks good and that's going to be my breakfast and I'm going to have salad as usual at lunch.

Anyway, on to the excited news. I got the scale this morning and I weighed 315. I made my goal of getting back to 315 at the end of Induction, October 22nd. But, since I made if before then my new goal is to lose five more pounds to bring me to 310. My goal for the rest of the year is to be 299 by December 31st. That means I would have to lose five pounds in November and December. I think that's very doable. That way I can bring in the new year in the 200s.

Atkins Day 5

Today was a tough one for me, I didn't wake up in time to make my lunch. I had breakfast four sausage and two string cheese sticks and for lunch I had left over pumpkin soup. It was good and I was full. And now, it's going of five thirty and I'm so hungry. I've been drinking water to keep myself from going into the cafeteria and eating carb laden whatever.

Tonight, I'm going to make Pizza Quiche, I found the recipe on lowcarber. I can't wait to get home and try it. It's going to be so good. I'll probably have a snack of scrambled eggs and shrimp, yumm-o (I watch to much Rachel Ray.)

Atkins Day 4

 [via ceeayetee]

Last night was a tough night for me food wise. My father brought pizza home, it's like my all time favorite food. But, I resisted and had shrimp and cream cheese dip...it was tasty. And my reward was getting on the scale this morning and dropping weight. On Monday I started at 322 and now I'm 319. I'm four pounds away from where I was two months ago, 315 lbs. I'm hoping to get back to 315 or less by the end of Induction next week.

The hardest thing so far is getting all my water in, I'm currently drinking 52oz a day. I should be drinking about 150oz per day, since your suppose to drink half your body weight. But, 52oz is good for me, before I couldn't even get 8oz of water down without choking. So, there has been an improvement. My goal for the time being is to be out of the 300s by the end of the year. I've lost 13 of the 173 pounds that I want to lose...not to shabby.

Atkins Day 3

I've made it to day three of induction. This round is going a lot easier than before, the first time I struggled and had intense carb cravings. So far, since Monday I've lost 1.2 pounds, that brings me to a 11.2 lbs...not bad.

Even though I went off Atkins for two months I still tracked my carbs somewhat. And my body seems to like low-carb. My menu is the same today as it was yesterday. Nothing to exciting.

Atkins Day 2

Day one went well, I lost 0.6 lbs. I'm a little tired, slightly irritable...but that's normal when your body is detoxing. I don't have any carb cravings, so that's good. I think Atkins will go better this time around since I actually know what I'm doing and I studied it more. Here's my menu for today.

Breakfast:
3 Sausage links
1 string cheese

Lunch:
3 cups romaine lettuce
1/2 cup cucumber
6oz pork
2 tbsp Caesar dressing

Dinner:
Two cup pumpkin
1 spelda
2 tbsp cream cheese
2 pats butter

Total:
1,403 calories
8 grams of carbs
76 grams of fat

Atkins Day 1

The first day of Atkins went well. The swelling in my feet went away, and my body decided to "rid" itself of somethings. But, other than that it was uneventful- No carb cravings and I drank my 52oz.

Today, I am restarting Atkins after being off for two months. In that time I've gain five pounds, boo. I went from 332lbs to 317lbs back to 322, but I'm still in the negative in lbs lost. But, it's my fault I gained because I wanted to eat what I wanted. This time I'm following the Atkins protocol like I should have the first time. This time I'm eating lost of veggies. Here's my menu for the day.

Atkins Shopping

[via google]

So, today's plan is to go shopping for Atkins. I've went on the Atkins website and wrote down all the foods that are acceptable in induction instead of going into the blindly like I did the last time. My plan is to eat three times a day at 6:00am, 12:00pm and 6:00pm. I get home late sometimes so I end up eating at 10:00pm and that's way to late. So, I'm going to bring breakfast, lunch and dinner to work with me.

I need to buy one of those plastic ice buckets (Igloo?) so I can keep my veggies and meat cold through the day. And I can hide it under my desk since my desk is tucked in the corner. And I have a new body inspiration.

Her name is Jamie Gunns, I think she has a cute shape. I have narrow hips and a long torso and legs, so I think her shape is realistic for me.

Cardio and Weight Loss

[via google]

I'm so proud of myself, I exercised this morning. It's wasn't anything exciting and it wasn't that long. I did a bootleg version of Tae-Bo for fifteen minutes. I remember when the original series came out in 1998, I ran out and got the VHS tapes. I got really good at it too, I was doing the Advanced tapes with no problem, I was also fourteen at the time. But, I want to get these tapes again, they were so much fun.

Also, I'm going back to Atkins. While I have more energy eating more carbs, I've started to gain weight. I guess I have to accept the fact that anything over 20 carbs a day makes me gain weight, but it also makes me tired. PCOS sucks.

Overcoming Food Issues

After doing a lot of thinking, I'm going to give Weight Wacthers a try again. I did it once before, but I didn't know what I was doing and I wasn't really committed to the program like I should have been. I did raw foods for a while, and that was a lot of planning, but I found out that I love green smoothies and my hair grew like a weed when I was drinking them, my skin was clear and my stomach never gave me problems. The only problem is I like cooked foods.

[via b3lief]

And Atkins I found out what carbs my body can and can not handle. I also learned to love water, I drink it everyday now and I find it tasty. The only issue that I had with raw and Atkins is that there aren't structured enough for me. With raw the community was constantly pushing things that you needed (raw protein powders and vitamins.) I remember I told them when I took MSM I had breathing difficulties and I was dismissed and everyone jumped on me saying that it must have been something I did wrong. And the Atkins community was the same way in some aspects. I find that in both communities there wasn't a lot of mental support.

[via lilyka]

The last time I used weight watchers I found the community to be very supportive and friendly. And if you had a problem people didn't talk down to you. Also, the variety of food is a lot better. Raw was hard because, I like chicken and fish. And Atkins was hard because I like fruits and veggies, but they were limited because their carb count was to high. So, I plan on doing a green smoothie in the morning and pick food that I know won't effect my insulin. I assuming that there will be adjustment along the way, but I've accepted that fact that I'm a food addict.

 [via cat-eyes]

All my life I used food to manage my emotions, I remember my binging started at eight, after I found out I was adopted and around that time I also developed breast and the kids at school started to harass me, old school bullying. At the time I didn't think it was fair that we didn't have a home computer, but I'm glad that we didn't because I most likely would have been cyber-bullied as well. And who knows where I would have ended up. I've found that giving my life over to God and this blog has helped me come to terms with the fact that I need to forgive these people and myself in order to move on. And I think the food addition was a way for me to create a barrier around myself because I didn't feel like I was worth anything. But, the more and more confident I become the more and more my mind and body don't connect. I think I'm getting ready to enter into a new season.

Supersized vs Superskinny

[via google]

This is my favorite new show. I've learned so much about nutrition and disorders and the extremes that people will go to, to look perfect. This week they were talking people who are obsessed with using plastic surgery to look their best. It's all rather scary. And I recently learned about the additive Red-40, eww. I think I'm just going to cut out processed foods. While I don't like cooking, it's better than eating the stuff that the government allows into our food. Someone recommended that I watch Food, Inc. They said that they lost 19 pounds because they refused to each anything that wasn't organic and unprocessed. I already stopped eating red meat because of the movies I saw from Peta. Oh, well what can you do.

Bananas Are A No Go

[via mreowmix]

As much as I love Bananas they don't love me. They give me sugar cravings and make me sleepy. Boo!

Saturday, September 10, 2011

So, my family and I haven't gone grocery shopping for the week yet and I was hungry. And I did what any other hungry person would do I went the fridge and ate what was there...rice.

Normally when I eat rice I get extremely tired and fall asleep because of the high carb content. But, that didn't happen this time, I didn't get tired at all. Because of this I decided to do some research as to why. Apparently, the rice I had been eating, Botan, is a short grain sticky rice that has a extremely high GI Index number. This rice was a regular white short grain variety and has a medium GI Index number. So, it looks like I'll be adding rice back into the mix, and eating the same thing everyday is getting boring, and I done well with my weight loss so far.

While I'm be incorporating other non gluten grain into my diet I'm still going to make an effort to stay under 100 grams of carbs per day or under 50 if possible.

Dietary Restrictions

Having dietary restrictions is hard, because sadly it cuts most foods out of your diet and it makes it difficult to eat. I'm gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant, soy intolerant and insulin resistance (that means my body doesn't digest carbs well.)

I've talked to my doctor and my best bet is to remove most carbohydrates. Even eating some fruits and vegetables make me sleepy, mostly the sweet or starchy ones. But, it can be hard find recipes or ready made foods that don't have gluten, lactose or soy in them.

I've been eating very well for the past three months, that's how I lost the weight I did. Unfortunately, a tooth abscess threw a wrench in that plan. The only that I could eat where foods that were soft and didn't require lots of chewing. So, I've been on an off on kick with carbs, luckily it's usually concentrated in salads or seeds/nuts of sometime. Today, I really wanted a jumbo honey bun, and I had one and it was tasty. Sadly, my body didn't like it and requested and exit and quickly as possible. My stomach is grumbling in protest and I have brain fog from the increase in insulin. Boo! There's always tomorrow to begin again.
